Every persona in your Visibility Audit (formerly known as a report) automatically receives an avatar when it is created. You can swap the avatar at any time to give each persona a look that matches how you think about your audience. Avatars are purely visual: they don't affect how AI models answer or what the persona represents.
Where can I change a persona's avatar?
You can change a persona's avatar anywhere you see the persona's image:
- In the setup wizard while you're creating a new Visibility dashboard.
- On the Personas page (left sidebar under "Configure," click "Personas") of an existing Visibility Audit.
How do I change an avatar?
- Hover over the persona's current avatar. A small image icon will appear in the corner of the avatar.
- Click the image icon to open the "Choose an avatar" picker.
- Pick one from the "Recommended" row at the top, or scroll through "All avatars" for the full library.
- Click any avatar to apply it. The change saves immediately and you don't need to re-run the Visibility Audit.
Avatars already in use by other personas in the same Visibility Audit appear grayed out so every persona stays visually distinct.
What's in the "Recommended" row?
The "Recommended" row shows avatars Gumshoe matches to the persona loosely based on the persona's profile. If none of the recommendations feel right, scroll to "All avatars" for the full library.
Does changing the avatar affect the persona's data or behavior?
No. Avatars are purely visual. They don't change the persona's description, characteristics, prompts, or how AI models respond. If you regenerate a persona's prompts, the avatar you picked stays put.
What does the "Custom" badge on a persona mean?
The green "Custom" badge marks personas you've added yourself or edited the text of. It's a flag for the persona's content, not its avatar. Changing an avatar on its own does not add the "Custom" badge.
