No. Your visibility percentage is built only from prompts that never mention your brand name. This is intentional, and it is what makes the number a real measure of how AI sees you.
How the prompts work
When you set up a Visibility Audit, Gumshoe generates prompts based on your focus (a product or service), your personas (the buyers you care about), and your topics. Each prompt is written the way a real person would actually ask AI about their need, without naming a specific brand. For example, a prompt might ask "What is the best CRM for a small sales team?" rather than a prompt that names you directly, like "Is [your brand] the best CRM?"
The models answer those open-ended questions, and Gumshoe reads every answer to see which brands the AI brought up on its own. Your visibility percentage is the share of answers in which your brand appeared.
Why we leave your brand name out
If we put your brand name into the prompt, the AI would almost always repeat it back in the answer. Your score would climb toward 100 percent, and it would tell you nothing about whether AI actually recommends you when a buyer is not already thinking of you.
By keeping prompts brand-free, the percentage shows your organic, earned visibility: the moments where AI chooses to mention you without being pointed at you first. That is the visibility that brings in buyers who have not heard of you yet.
When does Gumshoe use my brand name?
There is one place where naming your brand is the whole point. Our upcoming Sentiment Audit (available summer 2026) will send your brand name, along with your competitors’ names, directly to the models to measure how AI describes each of you. That is separate from your visibility percentage, and it answers a different question: not "does AI mention me?" but "what is AI's opinion of me?"
