A project in Gumshoe is scoped to one brand, one product category, one location, and one language. If you want to track a different product category, location, or language for the same brand, you can't add a second Visibility Audit (formerly known as a report) to your existing project. You'll need to start a new project.
Why do I need a new project instead of adding another audit?
Each project holds one Visibility Audit, plus its associated audits and features, all scoped to that project's specific combination of brand, product category, location, and language. This keeps your data clean: personas, topics, and prompts stay focused on one part of your business instead of blending together.
If your brand has multiple product lines, services, or markets you want visibility into, that's expected. Gumshoe is built for you to run a separate project for each one.
How do I set this up?
To track a second product category for the same brand:
- Go to Projects and click Create a new project.
- Enter the same brand.
- Choose the new product category for this project.
- Set a location or language if this project needs to differ from your existing one.
- Build out personas and topics for this focus. You can import and reuse personas from your existing projects instead of starting from scratch.
This keeps each product category clean and comparable, while letting you carry over the setup work that already applies.
Can I mix subscription tiers across projects?
Yes. Since each project carries its own subscription, you don't have to put every product category on the same plan. A common approach is to put your highest-priority product category on a more comprehensive plan, and lower-priority ones on a lighter plan. See our pricing page for what's included at each tier.
As your priorities shift, for example if a smaller product category becomes more important, you can move that project to a different plan. If you don't see the option in Project Settings, contact support and we'll help.
