Gumshoe includes a Location setting when you set up a project. It lets you tailor a Visibility Audit (formerly known as a report) to the geographic region where your potential customers are, so your results are more precise and relevant.
What does Location do?
When you set a location such as a city, state, or country, Gumshoe asks AI models to simulate personas and prompts from that region. This helps you understand:
- How AI models recommend brands in your target market
- Which competitors show up most often in your area
- What local buyers are likely to ask when looking for solutions like yours
How do I set a location?
- During project setup, confirm your brand details on the first step. The page then scrolls down to a location section.
- Choose "A specific location" and enter a city, state, country, or ZIP that matches where your target customers are based.
- Continue through the rest of project setup.
Pro tip: Create a separate project for each region you want to compare, since location is set per project.
Can I change the location in an existing project?
No. Location is one of the four things that define a project, along with brand, product category, and language, so it is fixed once the project is created. To track a different region, create a new project set to that location. You can then compare regions side by side across your projects.
