Yes, once you put a project on a paid plan. You always see the price upfront when you choose a plan, so you know what to expect, and nothing is billed automatically before that.
When are charges automatic?
When a project is on a paid plan, that subscription renews on a recurring monthly schedule and is billed automatically on its billing date. The audits in that project (your Visibility Audit, formerly known as a report, plus any Snapshot Audit pulses) run as part of that flat monthly plan, so you are not billed separately for each run. You can see the next billing date on the project's Settings page, where the subscription is marked active.
When am I not charged automatically?
You are not charged automatically in these cases:
- No paid subscription. Your free sample audit, building or editing a project without subscribing, and simply viewing work you have already run never trigger a charge.
- Before you pick a plan. You always choose your plan and see the price first, so nothing is billed until you decide to subscribe.
- Extra content generation. Generating content beyond the amount your plan includes each month is the one thing that can add to your bill, but you choose to run it and see the cost first, so it never happens on its own.
How do I stop automatic billing?
You are in control of every project subscription. On the project's Settings page, use the "Pause subscription" button to stop future charges. Pausing keeps your project and its past work in place, so you can pick back up whenever you are ready, and you do not need to close your Gumshoe account.
