You can rename a project at any time from its Settings page. If a name looks wrong in Gumshoe, it is worth knowing which name you are actually looking at, because the project title and your brand name are set in two different places.
How do I rename a project?
- Open the project you want to rename.
- Go to the Settings page. There are two ways to get there: click the "..." menu in the top right corner, then click Settings, or use the left sidebar under Configure and click Settings.
- Update the name.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page.
The new name applies right away. You do not need to run the project again for it to take effect.
Who can rename a project?
Any team member with access to the project can rename it. You do not need to be an Admin.
Why does my brand still show at the top after I renamed the project?
This is expected. Renaming gives the project a custom title, but the product category and brand continue to display at the top of your audit the way they always have. The custom title does not replace them.
So if you renamed a project and the heading still shows something you were trying to change, the name you are looking at is probably your brand name rather than the project title.
What if the name that is wrong is my brand name?
Renaming the project will not fix this, because brand names are handled separately. This happens when AI models refer to a brand by a different name than the one you use, or when a brand is picked up under a shortened or misspelled version of its name.
Brand names are corrected in the Competitive Leaderboard, where you can save a custom name for a brand. That change applies to how the brand is labeled across your audits, not just to a single project.

What if the name still is not right?
If you have renamed the project and corrected the brand name and something still looks wrong, ask for a human in chat and we will take a look at your setup.
