Gumshoe now runs on subscriptions, with three plan levels: Starter, Build your own, and the Playbook (also known as the Pro plan). Each Project has its own subscription, which runs your audits on a schedule so you can track your brand over time. If you were a Gumshoe customer before subscriptions, here is what changes for you and what stays the same.
Are my existing Visibility Audits still priced the old way?
It depends on whether the audit was set to repeat. If your Visibility Audit was scheduled to repeat as of August 17, 2026, it keeps running on your existing pricing, and that grandfathered pricing continues through the end of 2026. This applies to agencies and pay-as-you-go customers alike. Plan to move the Project onto a subscription before January 1, 2027.
If your audit was not scheduled to repeat as of August 17, 2026, it does not carry your old pricing forward. To run it again, move the Project onto a subscription.
If you are not sure which applies to your audit, ask for a human over chat or email support@gumshoe.ai and we will check it for you.
Why do I see Custom on some of my Projects?
Custom is the label for Projects that run outside the subscription plans, including audits set up the way they worked before subscriptions. Seeing Custom on a Project is expected. If you're not sure how a Custom Project is billed, ask for a human in chat.
What do I get if I move to a subscription?
Every plan runs a monthly Visibility Audit and a Pulse Audit, and includes Technical Audit runs and content generation each month.
- Starter ($99/mo) runs the Pulse Audit weekly.
- Build your own is Starter plus one more audit for $100/mo: the Content Audit, the Sentiment Audit, or the Citation Audit.
- The Playbook ($299/mo) includes every audit, runs the Pulse Audit daily, and includes more Technical Audit runs and content generation each month.
If you're already on Starter or Pro, nothing changes. Pro is now called the Playbook.
For the full breakdown, see What's included in the Starter, Build your own, and Playbook plans? For prices, see the Gumshoe pricing page.
How do I move my current setup to a subscription?
Upgrading is self-serve. Select Upgrade now on the Project's card in your Projects list, or Upgrade this project in the "Unlock more features with subscriptions" banner in the Project's Settings. Choose the Playbook or Build your own, and you'll see the full price before you confirm. Your existing setup carries over, so there is nothing to rebuild.
Your Project's size doesn't limit your choice. Every plan includes a set number of conversations and bills anything beyond that as overage, so a larger Project can go on any plan. A payment method needs to be on file to complete the upgrade.
For the full walkthrough, see How do I upgrade my Project or change its plan?
Can I change plans later?
Yes, you can move up. Go one level at a time, from Starter to Build your own to the Playbook, or move to the Playbook from any plan at any time. On Build your own, you can also swap your added audit for a different one in Change plan; the price stays $100/mo and the new audit starts on your next scheduled run.
An added audit can't be removed without choosing another, and a Project can't move to a smaller plan. To go smaller, pause the original Project's subscription in its Settings and create a new Project on the plan you want.
When am I charged, and when does a subscription run?
When you start a subscription, you are charged that day and your first run begins right away. After that, the subscription renews and runs again about every 30 days. You can choose which day it runs on going forward. See How often does my Visibility Audit run, and can I change the schedule?

What should I do next?
If you have a Project still on Custom or a past audit that no longer repeats, compare the plans and move it onto a subscription to start tracking it again. See Step 2: Which plan should I choose when I set up a Project?
