Your project runs according to its subscription. The subscription sets your project's cadence, which audits it includes, and whether it's currently active. Your Visibility Audit (formerly known as a report) and its Pulse Snapshot Audit run automatically on that schedule, and one-off runs are not available, but you can choose the day a run lands on, get email notifications when audits run, pause your project's subscription to stop its runs, and unpause it to start them again. You manage it all from the project's Settings.
How does my project's subscription set its schedule?
Your project's run cadence comes with its subscription plan, rather than being something you set by hand. Playbook plans run more often. Because the schedule is tied to the plan, you can't change how often a project's audits run, and one-off runs aren't available. You can, however, choose which day a recurring run lands on (see below). For what each plan includes, see the pricing page.
Our audit and pulse schedules aren't arbitrary: they're tuned to patterns we've seen across thousands of Gumshoe audit runs and aligned with industry benchmarks for how often a brand needs to check in to catch a real shift instead of noise. Staying on that cadence, without gaps, turns your data into a trend you can act on instead of a series of disconnected snapshots.
For Agencies, even if you only sit down with a client once a quarter, keeping the subscription running the whole time in between is what makes that meeting worth having: instead of a single snapshot, you're walking in with a real trend line, showing exactly what moved, when, and what your work did to move it. That continuous record turns a quarterly check-in into a renewal conversation, not just a status update.
Where do I manage my project's schedule?
Open your project and click Settings in the left menu, under Project. This opens the Project settings page, where your subscription and its audits live. If you open a Visibility Audit and click its Settings, it takes you to the same Project settings page.
Can I choose which day my project's audits run?
Yes. From the project's Settings, click Change renewal date to set the day a recurring audit lands on.
- If an audit runs weekly, choose any day of the week, and it will run on that day each week.
- If an audit runs monthly, choose any day of the month. If a month is shorter than the day you picked (for example, the 31st), the run happens on the last day of that month instead.
- Daily audits run every day, so there is no day to set.
- If you leave the day on Default, the audit keeps running on the day your project was created.
Runs happen overnight, US Pacific Time.
How do I get email notifications when my project's audits run?
On the project's Settings page, check the box labeled “Receive email summaries when audits in this project are run.” You'll see this same checkbox during subscription setup in the wizard, and you can turn it on or off at any time afterward from Settings; changes take effect going forward.
One exception: if your project runs a daily Pulse Audit, you won't get a daily email for it.
How do I pause my project?
Pausing your project's subscription stops its audits from running:
- Open the project and click Settings in the left menu.
- In the subscription card near the top of Project settings, click Pause subscription.
Because the plan is a recurring subscription, pausing your project also stops its ongoing cost. Pausing does not delete anything: your project and its past audits stay available.
However, we strongly recommend against pausing your project subscription. Pausing stops new data collection, leaving a permanent gap in your trend history that can't be filled later. Continuous data is what makes the trend meaningful.
How do I resume a paused project?
Go back to the same subscription card in Project settings and unpause your project's subscription. Runs resume on the plan's normal cadence. A paused project never resumes on its own, so you need to unpause it yourself when you are ready.
I have more than one project. Does pausing one pause them all?
No. Each project has its own subscription, so pausing one only affects that project. Your other projects keep running and billing until you pause them too. If you want to stop several, open each project's Settings and pause every subscription you intend to stop, and double-check that you have caught them all.
