Gumshoe lets you reuse personas across Visibility Audits (formerly known as a report) by importing them from your personal workspace or from any shared workspace you have access to. This makes it easy to stay consistent without having to recreate personas from scratch.
How to import a persona from an existing Visibility Audit
You can import personas from existing Visibility Audits in your account or from those shared within your workspace.
1. Navigate to Personas
For an existing Visibility Audit, click Personas in the left navigation. You can also start this process from the Personas step while creating a new project.
- Click Add persona.
- Select Import from existing.
- This opens the Import persona modal.
2. Choose a source
At the top of the modal, you can switch between two tabs:
- My personas: personas from Visibility Audits you personally own or have created.
- My workspace: personas from Visibility Audits shared within workspaces you are a member of.
You can use the search bar to quickly find a specific persona by name.
3. Complete the import
- Locate the persona you want to reuse.
- Review the Visibility Audit name column to see where the persona was originally used.
- Click Import.
The persona will be added to your current Visibility Audit and can be edited if needed.
What happens after import
- The imported persona keeps its original structure and description.
- You can customize the persona further without affecting the original Visibility Audit it came from.
- Imported personas behave exactly like newly created personas in prompts, Visibility Audits, and analysis. It is not imported with topics or prompts from the previous Visibility Audit.
Things to keep in mind
- You can import personas from any shared workspace you have access to.
- Importing a persona creates a copy, not a live link. Changes do not sync back to the original Visibility Audit.
- This is useful for standardizing personas across multiple Visibility Audits or projects. See how your brand performs with the same set of personas across multiple Analysis Focuses, for example.
