If Gumshoe has misidentified or misnamed your brand in a report, don’t worry, you can fix it!
Sometimes AI models or data sources may confuse similar brand names or pull incorrect identifiers. These issues don’t affect your long-term results and can easily be fixed in your Visibility Audit's Competitive Leaderboard.
Common Signs of a Brand Name Issue
You may be facing a brand-name issue if you used your correct brand domain, but the following is occurring:
- Your reports show a brand name you do not recognize
- All your reports are labeled with someone else's brand or product name
- The brand name in your report is a misspelling or variation of your actual brand
- You see a competitor's name or an unrelated company where your brand should appear
If any of these sound familiar, you are in the right place.
Where do I change a brand's name?
You set a brand's name from its brand report, which you open from the Competitive Leaderboard. The control lives on the Customize tab, next to the Brand aliases tab. You can do this for a competitor or for your own brand.
How do I rename a brand?
- Open a Visibility Audit (report) and click Competitive Leaderboard in the left sidebar.
- Find the brand you want to rename. Click “View comparison” on a competitor's row, or click anywhere on your own brand's row.
- Select the Customize tab.
- The Canonical name shows the name the brand is currently stored under. Type the name you want to display in the Custom name field.
- Click “Save custom name.”
The brand now displays under the name you set everywhere it appears across your company account, including the Competitive Leaderboard and every report. This change applies only to your company account and does not affect what other Gumshoe customers see.
